Taiwan Day 5: Beitou

To put it more accurately, it wasn't Beitou that we visited, but Xinbeitou (meaning New Beitou) rather. Anyway, it makes not much of a difference... The whole area is called Beitou, it's just that there's a new MRT station even closer to the tourist destinations now, so they named it that way.

Okay, so what should you do in Beitou? Actually, Beitou is most famous for it's hot springs. However, to have spas in the hot springs would require a lot of time and some preparations, unless you book a hotel there. Too bad we didn't have that much time. Plus, the hotels are kinda expensive and far away from the main area of Taipei.
Of course, there are still plenty places to visit there except hot springs. In fact, there are several main attractions: the Taipei Public Library, rated as one of the best libraries in the world, the Beitou Hot Spring Museum, the Ketagalan Culture Center, kinda like a museum of an aboriginal race locally, and the 'Coal Shack'.
Unluckily for us, it was a Monday, and three out of four of the aforementioned places were closed... Be warned, if you ever visit Taiwan, do NOT go to tourist attractions, especially museums, on a Monday. :S
However, we did get to enter the public library, which, like everything else in Taiwan, is so much better than our local ones. =.=.And the landscape around was scenic. The park, especially, was very pretty.
It was pretty regrettable that we didn't get the chance to visit the other places though. Maybe I'll have to wait until next time...

Won't post any pics today, coz all of them have me inside... And I looked terrible in photos... T.T
p.s. Any FB friends of mine that may be viewing this, I kept wanting to post my travel pics on FB but I'm just to lazing to sort them...
